ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Sunday that Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola will sign a seven-year, $172 million contract to continue with the organization – making him the highest-paid pitcher in Phillies history once the contract is finalized.
The 30-year-old Nola, who became a free agent this offseason, has spent his entire nine-year career with Philadelphia. He posted a 12-9 record with a 4.46 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 202 strikeouts through 193 2/3 innings last season. Nola pitched four games in the Phillies’ postseason run to the National League Championship Series, going 3–1 in that span. Throughout nine seasons, Nola holds a 90–71 record with a 3.72 ERA.
